Alliant Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Alliant provides exclusive benefits to employees, retirees, and members of eligible organizations and their family members; every member of Foster Care to Success; and individuals living or working in eligible communities and their family members. Founded in 1935, Alliant is the fifth largest credit union based on asset size in the United States with $ 8.2 billion in assets, and serves more than 280,000 members worldwide.

History
On October 26, 1935, a small group of United Airlines employees held a credit union. Credit union was established as United Airlines Employee Credit Union (UAECU), but in 2003, the name was changed to Alliant Credit Union. After 68 years as a single-sponsored credit union, the membership of the credit union was diversified and by the end of 2003, it offered services to 27 sponsoring organizations and to individuals living and working in 19 communities around O'Hare International Airport. Today, the Alliant Credit Union offers membership to over 150 organizations and continues to offer services to communities around O'Hare International Airport.
Mergers and acquisitions
In 2008, the Alliant Credit Union acquired the Kaiperm Federal Credit Union of Oakland, California.
In 2011, credit unions joined the Federal Union Credit Union of Tempe, Arizona, including the separately branded AS Airways Credit Union.
Regulatory oversight and deposit insurance
The Alliant Credit Union is a Illinois charter credit union, and is under the supervision of the Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Rules (IDFPR). The Alliant Credit Union savings account is insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an independent body of the federal government, which manages the National Credit Sharing Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). NCUA and IDFPR conduct periodic checks on Alliant.

Credit Union Alliant membership is a benefit available to individuals who meet any of the following requirements:
- Any employee or member of an eligible organization.
- A person who lives, works, or worships in a qualified Chicago community.
- Every member of Foster Care to Success.
- Anyone associated with blood or law to existing Alliant members.
- Any domestic partners of unmarried members.
Products and services
The Alliant Credit Union product line includes savings accounts, current accounts, certificates, IRAs, consumer loans, and Visa credit cards. Alliant's savings account establishes membership with Alliant Credit Union and initial deposit of savings is $ 5. Savings account options are Regular Savings, Additional Savings, Custodian Savings, and Kidz Clubs for children under 12 years of age. To receive a monthly dividend, a savings account requires an average daily balance of $ 100 or more. Free Alliant Examination with a free first set of checks and opt-out of paper statements, and having at least one monthly electronic deposit required for high-level checking options. Consumer loans include mortgages, home equity, vehicles, students, and personal loans. Alliant also offers investment and insurance services.
Account access
Alliant services include online banking Alliant, free bill payment, mobile deposit, ATM deposit, eDeposit, and eDepositPlus. eDeposit grants qualified Alliant members the ability to make online deposits before sending actual checks in a special eDeposit envelope to the credit union. eDepositPlus allows members to perform remote check checks using a home scanner.
Currently, Alliant has a 24/7 member contact center, 14 service centers, and over 80,000 free ATMs located worldwide.
Credit Union Alliant Foundation
The Credit Union Alliant Foundation is a separate independent legal entity, incorporated in Illinois and operated by a Board of Directors composed of employees of the Credit Union Alliance. The Foundation is a non-profit charity foundation established to promote economic empowerment and self-sufficiency in communities where Credit Union Alliant members and employees live and work. Types of special support to be provided include: education, services, grants and investments.
In 2010, Credit Union Alliant Foundation completed its first year of operation. During the year, the Foundation donated $ 200,000 for a noble cause. The eligible cause for the Foundation's financial support is in line with its mission.
