The oil engine is an internal combustion engine powered by fuel oil combustion, as opposed to an external combustion engine, such as a steam engine. This term usually refers to a low compression engine, so diesel engines are usually not included.
Engine oil may refer to:
- Hornsby-Akroyd oil engine, the first internal combustion engine that uses heavy oil as a fuel
- Crude oil machines, internal combustion engines that can use many types of fuel as fuel
- Oil burner (engine), steam engine that uses oil as fuel
