The Saturn VUE is a compact SUV sold and built by Saturn, and it is Saturn's best-selling model. It was the first vehicle to use the GM Theta platform when it was introduced in 2001 for the 2002 model. The VUE was later in the facelift for the 2006 model year. The second generation model was launched in 2007 for the 2008 model year as Opel Between being demolished. VUE production in North America ended when GM injured the Saturn brand during a 2009 reorganization.

Generasi pertama (2002-2007)

Vue was introduced for the 2002 model and designed by Saturn. It was manufactured at GM Spring Hill factory. Its unibody platform is shared with Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and European Opel Between. The first generation ran from model year 2002-2007.

Four cylinders VUE use Ecotec I4. The L81 V6 of the L-Series automatic transmission and five-speed Aisin AF33 was initially offered, but starting in 2004, all six cylinder Vues are equipped with Honda's 250-horsepower (190 kW) J35A3 Machine and Honda transmission. The four-cylinder Vue is available with VTi continuously variable transmission (CVT) until GM cancels it for 2005 due to dependency issues.

The VUE received a facelift for the 2006 model year. Upgrades include a redesigned interior with higher quality materials, bumper and new grille, and some small cosmetic pieces for the exterior. OnStar is now standard as well as cruise control and automatic headlights. However, the GM badge was not added to the side of the vehicle until GM took over production from Saturn for the second-generation VUE.

Model year changes

In 2004:

  • The VUE Red Line is released
  • The V6 model accepts Honda J35A3 engine and Honda transmission. The 3.5-liter engine and 5-speed transmission improves performance above the previous V-6. It was an important selling point at the time. V-6 engine is used in the model year Saturn VUE 2004-2007.

In 2005:

  • 5- and 4-speed automatic transmission back for 2005, and CVT was dropped.
  • All VUEs get redesigned interior critics with new air vents, new steering wheels, and new radio planks that contribute to the noise, vibration, and sound.

In 2006:

  • Facelift with a new interior, cosmetic changes on the exterior.

Red Line

Saturn introduced a special high-performance vehicle track in 2004 under the name, "Red Line". The VUE Red Line includes the same 250Ã, hp (186Ã, kW) Honda J35A3 V6 as a regular model, but with sporty suspension tuning, 1 inch down, and power steering calibration unique for performance, 18 in wheels, ground-effect front and rear bumper, unique rocker trim panel, chrome exhaust tip, special black leather and suede chairs (optional for 2005, standard for 2006 and 2007), footwell lamps (supplied with leather and suede seat packs, not available with full leather seats (heated front seats)), and special measuring groups complete visual updates. It also includes some special interior features as well, such as higher quality audio systems.

Green Line

The high-performance VUE Merah path was merged for 2007 by the eco-friendly Green Line model. The Vue is a lightweight hybrid, or "hybrid assist", using what is called the "belt starter bell" hybrid BAS system. The large electric motor is connected to the crankshaft through a special accessory drive belt, with a modified automatic transmission attached.

Automatically stops the engine when the vehicle stops and immediately restarts when the vehicle has to move again. No need to be confused just as a "start-stop" system, electric motors also help somewhat during initial launch, during torque smoothing and when under heavy acceleration. The 36-volt nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery pack, which lies beneath the load floor, drives the motor/generator units and also stores regenerative braking energy. Regenerative replenishment and electric motor assistance functions are shown to the driver via an analog gauge on the dash, and real-time fuel economy feedback is made through the shining "eco" light when the fuel economy instantly beats the window stickers fuel economy value.

Fuel savings reached 20% of a total of 22 mpg vehicles -US (11Ã, L/100Ã, km)/27 mpg -US (8.7Ã, L/100Ã, km) city/highway EPA sticker to 27 mpg -US (8.7 L/100 km)/32 mpg -US (7.4 L/100 km) , the highest highway fuel economy of the 2007 model SUV sold in the US market. In Canada, according to Saturn, Vue got an approximate 8.8 L/100 km (32 mpg -sed ; 27 mpg -US ) city and 6.7 L/100 km (42 mpg -a little ; 35 mpg -US ) highway.

The Green Line has a 170-horsepower (130-kW) 2.4-liter Ecotec DOHC-phaser engine that replaces the 144-horsepower (107rb) 2.2-liter inline-four engine, resulting in a 0- 60 mph (0-97 km/h) acceleration time with 1.0 seconds. The price for hybrids is about US $ 2,000 more than the same-equipped Vue, and debuted in production on January 8, 2006 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Green line went on sale in the third quarter of 2006.

Machine

Security

In the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) accident test, Vue received the overall Good rating in the frontal offset damage test. In 2008 the model comes with a standard front and rear curtain front airbags and seat-mounted front-seat airbags. These models are given acceptable overall rankings in side effects. Models without side airbags are rated poor overall.

Second Second generation (2008-2010)

Saturn introduced the second generation VUE in 2007 for the 2008 model year, produced in Mexico as a branded version of German-designed Opel Between. Saturn offers four trim levels: base "XE", classier, up-level "XR", top of the line sporty "Red Line" and hybrid trim "Green Line". Available engines include a 2.4L inline 4 cylinder, as well as 3.5L and 3.6L V6 options. Hybrid powertrain version of the 2.4-liter model is also available. The GM badge is now added to the front door. VUE produced in Mexico is also marketed in Mexico and South America as the Chevrolet Captiva Sport, with only the badges changed and a new insert grille mounted.

After the collapse of the Saturn brand in 2009 for the 2010 model year, VUE was discontinued. However, GM continues to produce Chevrolet Captiva Sport, for the Mexican and South American markets. Chevrolet Captiva Sport was introduced for US commercial and fleet markets in late 2011 for the 2012 model year.
