Steam steam cleaner or steam vapor system is a cleaning apparatus or a steam-use apparatus for quickly drying, cleaning and cleaning the surface of inanimate objects. Often this process is effective enough to disinfect or even sterilize the surface. Steam is produced in boilers that heat tap water to high temperatures (240-310F/115-155C) to produce low pressure (some atmosphere), low water vapor (4 to 6% water) (steam).
The ability of steam to clean is based primarily on the heat. Steam is applied to surfaces that can be cleaned through various isolated tools and accessories, thus safely providing the energy needed to break the soil bonds and releasing the contaminants into the water suspension, after which they can be removed by wiping or vacuuming.
This process uses very little water (the use is measured in liters or quarters per hour) as compared to carpet cleaners or other cleaning devices (whose use is measured in liters or gallons per minute), using non-steam hot water and incorrectly termed "steam cleaners".
The low humidity characteristics attached to the steam cleaning vapor make it suitable for use in buildings and residences.
There are several steam cleaning steam manufacturers, with products ranging from high-end industrial products to low-cost consumer models.
Steam steam cleaners are cited as an example of a green cleaning because they do not require the use of a chemical cleaning solution. They are increasingly popular due to the ability of steam vapors to kill germs and in some cases disinfection without the use of chemical disinfectants. Steam vapor is also called effective in killing dust mites in carpets, beds, and upholstery. In addition, dry vapor steam has proven effective to kill bedbugs and their eggs when it reaches a temperature of 150-170 degrees.
In 2005, the University of Washington tested steam steam systems in toilets and reported labor savings and hygiene improvements over previous methods.
Steam steam cleaners are often used in hypoallergenic environments because they do not require the use of additional cleaning chemicals, resulting in better indoor air quality and eliminates the need to handle or store cleaning agents. Steam has proven effective in fighting fungi, bacteria, viruses, and other forms of bio-contamination.
