Oil waste is defined as any petroleum-based or synthetic oil which, through contamination, has become unsuitable for its original purpose due to impurities or loss of original properties.

Membedakan antara "limbah minyak" dan "minyak bekas"
The US EPA defines the term "scrap oil" as any petroleum or synthetic oil that has been used, and as a result of its use is contaminated by its physical or chemical properties. "Used oil" is an appropriate setting term. "Oil waste" is a more general term for oils that have been contaminated with substances that may or may not be harmful. Any oil contaminated with hazardous waste can be a hazardous waste, and if so, it should be managed subject to hazardous waste management standards. Both waste oil and waste oil require proper recycling or disposal to avoid creating environmental problems.

Products used as waste oil
Some examples of product types that can be labeled as used oil are: hydraulic oil, transmission oil, brake fluid, motor oil, crankcase oil, gearbox oil, synthetic oil and fuel grade 1, 2, 3, and 4 oil.
Oil waste disposal
Oil waste can be disposed of in different ways, including sending off-site oil (some facilities are allowed to handle used oils such as your local garage and local waste disposal facilities), burning used oils as fuel (some used oils) are not regulated by standard burners, but others that are off-oil specifications that are used can only be burned in industrial furnaces, certain boilers, and permitted hazardous waste incinerators), and marketing the oil used (claims made that the oil used is to be burned for energy recovery, it is then sent to a used oil burner that burns oil used in an approved industrial furnace or boiler). The off-specific oil usually contains: Arsenic 5 ppm, Cadmium 2 ppm, Chromium 10 ppm, Lead 100 ppm, Flash point 100 à ° F, minimum (ie, fp must be greater than 100 à ° F), Total Halogen & gt ; 4,000 ppm
Oil waste storage and handling
For burning used oil on site, the oil should be stored in a tank or container, above or below the ground. The container should be in good condition without leakage, the tank/container should be labeled with the word "used oil", and there should be a spill prevention plan (or control and mitigation plan).
Used Oil Management
In 1984 the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) implemented a used oil management program under Sections 403.75 to 403,769, Florida Statutes. The Florida Oil Recycling Program has grown to become one of the most successful in the United States and has received national recognition.
Waste furnace and oil boiler
Oil furnace waste is a type of furnace used for heating purposes and is triggered by scrap oil that is free from harmful contaminants, as described by the EPA. Oil-fueled boilers can be used for various industrial purposes as well as heating.
