Nutmeg oil is volatile volatile oil from nutmeg ( Myristica fragrans ). Oil colorless or light yellow and smell and nutmeg. It contains many components of interest to the oleochemical industry. The essential oil consists of about 90% of the terpene hydrocarbon. The prominent component is sabinene ,? -pinene ,? -pinene and limonene. The main component containing oxygen-4-ol terpinen. The oil also contains a small amount of various phenolic and aromatic ether compounds, eg. myristicin, elemicin, safrole and methyl eugenol. The phenolic fraction is considered to be a major contributor of a distinctive nutmeg odor. Myristicin and elemicin are thought to be responsible for the hallucinogenic properties of nutmeg oil.

General use

Essential oils are obtained by distillation of soil nutmeg steam and used in perfume and pharmaceutical industries. The essential nutmeg oil is used as a natural food seasoning in baked goods, syrup, beverages (eg Coca-Cola), candies etc. It replaces nutmeg soil because it leaves no particles in the food. Essential oils are also used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries for example in toothpaste and as the main ingredient in some cough syrups. In traditional nutmeg and nutmeg oil used for diseases related to the nervous system and digestion.

External usage

Externally, oil is used for rheumatic pain and, like clove oil, can be used as an emergency treatment to relieve toothache. In France, it is administered in a drop dose in honey for indigestion and used for bad breath. In the case of dental problems it is advisable to use one or two drops on the cotton to be applied to the gums around the sore tooth until dental treatment can be obtained; or three to five drops on a lump of sugar or a teaspoon of honey for nausea, gastroenteritis, chronic diarrhea, and indigestion.

Alternatively, massage oils can be made for muscle pain associated with rheumatism or fatigue. It can also be combined with thyme or rosemary essential oils.
